Introduction: The UMKC School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery are pleased to announce the formation of the UMKC Surgical Society. This new organization is in the formative stages and will embrace the membership of:
* graduates of the surgery residency program;
* current and former surgery faculty;
* current residents;
* UMKC graduates who have trained in surgery elsewhere.
Purpose: The purpose of the UMKC Surgical Society will be to:
* Develop a life-long connection with the graduates of the Residency Program;
* Serve the professional needs of the Society's members;
* Support the residency program, and the other educational initiatives of the Department of Surgery at the UMKC School of Medicine.
Objectives: The primary objectives of this organization will be to:
* Provide an opportunity for professional growth and social interaction among members;
* Assist in efforts to recruit residents to the program and subsequent membership in the Society;
* Support the mission and goals of the residency program, the Department of Surgery, and the School of Medicine;
* Provide a forum for the presentation and exchange of ideas.
